美式橄欖球（American football）（美式足球）是橄欖球運動的一種，美國流行的運動，為北美四大職業(yè)體育。美式橄欖球起源自英式橄欖球，傳入美國后規(guī)則改變，改為采取攻防線進行回合制爭球、沒有跑位限制，并且可以向前拋擲傳球，這運動的目的是要把球推進到對手的端區(qū)得分，得分方法有多種，包括持球越過底線，拋球到在底線后的隊友，或把直放在地上的球踢過兩枝門柱中間射門。比賽時間完時得分較多的一隊勝出。 美式橄欖球是一種對抗性很強的接觸性體育運動，由于球賽中往往會與對方球員有強烈的身體沖撞，因此球員需穿戴頭盔和護具出場。
